For our collaboration with art24, we at RAM Swiss Watches set out to create something truly exceptional. We designed six unique artworks, each transformed into a bespoke watch dial — six singular pieces that merge fine art and Swiss watchmaking. To honour these creations with the respect they deserve, we needed a presentation box that matched their exclusivity: elegant, sustainable, and meticulously crafted.
This search led us to Das B — the Blinden- und Behindertenzentrum Bern — an institution whose mission resonates deeply with our values. Das B is a social enterprise that provides meaningful work, long-term development, and a dignified daily life for blind, visually impaired, and multiply disabled individuals. Their workshop stands as proof that true craftsmanship is not defined by limitations, but by passion, precision, and purpose.
From Swiss Wood to an Heirloom Box
Our visit to the woodworking atelier in Bern offered a rare glimpse into the journey from raw Swiss wood to a finished luxury watch box. Under the guidance of workshop head Markus Holzer and master craftsman Roman Stettler, we watched each step of the process — a choreography of skill and dedication.
A massive plank, once part of a living tree, is first measured and cut down to size. After planing and smoothing, the wood moves through a series of machines that refine its texture and prepare it for precision joinery. Edges are milled with meticulous care so that every connection fits seamlessly — the hallmark of a box built to last for generations.
Once the pieces have been shaped, they are carefully assembled, glued, and reinforced. Roman cuts the exact cavities needed to embed discreet magnets, giving the lid a smooth, effortless opening — a detail that elevates functionality to an experience.
The Signature Finish
The nearly finished box is then treated with a premium hard-oil wax. As the grain awakens and the wood releases its warm, natural scent, one can feel the pride Roman pours into his craft. This is not mass production; it is slow, deliberate, human work.
When dry, each box is subtly branded and prepared for its final purpose: to house one of our six art watches — a collaboration between RAM Swiss Watches and art24, brought to life through artisanal skill and social impact.

Leaving Das B, we were deeply moved. The quality of the craftsmanship impressed us — but the mission behind it inspired us. By choosing to produce our presentation boxes here, we are not only ensuring Swiss-made excellence; we are contributing to an organisation that promotes inclusion, empowerment, and meaningful opportunities.
